Finding Solutions
Welcome to the dog days of summer. As the days heat up and up and up, the pressures of an economy in recession have found The Conflict Center struggling to find solutions. It is with difficulty that I make some announcements in this edition, but it is with great confidence that I state- we will persevere. To read about these changes please open the link Changes at TCC to Keep up with Hard Times.
Our hope through these changes is that we grow stronger together. Today staff is juggling office changes, IT and network frustrations, and working with a few less employees. Persevering through times of change is not new to The Conflict Center.
Established in the 80s, we’ve seen presidents and congresses come and go. Funding over the years has been lean and fat (or at least less lean). Dedicated staff have come and gone, and our mission grows stronger. It’s in these trying times that our true character comes to the surface. TCC will continue to expand our mission into this wonderful community whom we serve.

By Ron Ludwig
Like it or not, change (much like conflict) is inevitable. Change can produce anxiety and sadness as well as excitement and opportunity. It is my desire to keep you, our supporters, as up-to-date as is reasonably possible.

In 2008,
there were 15.2 million refugees around the world. An estimated 80 percent
of refugees are women and children, according to Refugees International.
A refugee is legally defined as a person who is outside his or her country
of nationality and is unable to return due to a well-founded fear of
persecution because of his or her race, religion, nationality, political
opinion, or membership in a particular social group. By receiving refugee
status, individuals are guaranteed protection of their basic human rights,
and cannot be forced to return to a country where they fear persecution.
