Adults will learn how to recognize their anger levels and how to use a cool-down (skill). The instructor will provide a safe place to talk about anger. Participants will explore personal views on anger and will confirm that anger is a healthy emotion. Our thought processes affect our feelings of anger and our physical well being. Raising awareness about one’s thoughts when anger begins the process of changing negative self-talk, that exacerbates angry feelings. Replacing self-defeating thoughts with positive thoughts helps us deal with angry feelings in a constructive way. A deeper exploration into one’s history can raise awareness as to why we have the thought processes and behaviors we currently engage. Beliefs about anger lead to behavior. Exploring belief systems in regard to anger participants can gain insight into their behaviors around anger. By teaching awareness and practical skills as related to anger management the adults in the class can begin to understand their current anger process from a different perspective.
