PROGRAMS FOR  Mediation

Providing a confidential, informal solution to disputes

When both parties are interested in finding a solution, mediation can help in communicating needs and perspectives that allow for reconciliation.

Many disagreements can be resolved with the assistance of a neutral third party who can facilitate a safe, constructive and collaborative conversation. Mediation is a process to help people communicate their individual perspectives and expectations and to reconcile their differences.

Mediators work for both parties involved and serve as an impartial but active listener. A mediator can help both parties explore options. The final agreement, however, is up to the parties involved. The final decision is theirs together, and how they carry out their agreement is up to them.

Mediation is a confidential process and is protected under the Colorado Dispute Resolution Act. All discussions during mediation are confidential and no information shared in any mediation session can be disclosed as evidence or testimony in a court of law.

Who can benefit from mediation?

Mediation is an effective method for managing interpersonal issues where there is a desire by both parties to work together to resolve their differences. The success of mediation depends on the willingness of both individuals or all parties involved to participate in the process.

Who provides mediation?

The Conflict Center typically refers clients to professionally trained mediators.  For more information see Zinn Mediation Associates.
