Powerful Me

Powerful Me! has been created for young people ages 8 to 12 and reinforces vocabulary and interpersonal skills used during conflict management. This interactive educational program is designed to be used as a supplementary learning tool for the Peacemaking Made Practical curriculum developed by The Conflict Center for use in the classroom.

Using this interactive program, children will learn the language of nonviolent problem-solving and they will see the difference between win-win and lose-lose (which includes win-lose choices). The program illustrates effective conflict management skills with video clips of real students dealing with and resolving real conflicts. The program also includes games and exercises to stimulate learning in a way that is fun for children. They are given creative brainstorming options for addressing conflicts management without telling them what they "should" do. Within the safety of the Powerful Me! program, children can practice making different choices. Some of the choices will be right and some will be wrong. When the answers are wrong, the interactive program encourages children to try again.

Powerful Me! contains eight modules, which build on each other sequentially but can also be viewed in any order by those children who have been introduced to conflict management skills in their classroom. For home use or where the user is unfamiliar with the vocabulary and concepts, we recommend the modules be reviewed in the order in which they appear on the menu in the computer program for proper prerequisite learning.

This program is designed for children who know how to read.
