Playground Conflict Manager Assistant

Purpose:

To help TCC school train, support, observe and follow-up with Playground Conflict Manager (PCM).

Activities:

  • Help train elementary school children as Playground Conflict Managers
  • Observe youth serving as PCMs.
  • Provide support and guidance to PCMs.
  • Help provide follow-up services to PCMs.
  • Assist with teaching anger and conflict management skills
  • Assist with publication of the "Peace Connections" newsletter for PCM’s.

Qualifications:

This volunteer must have a willingness to learn conflict management skills and become familiar with TCC curriculum and library resources. They must have good organizational skills, patience and be very dependable. They must enjoy working with children and youth grades K - 12. Availability during school hours on weekdays is necessary.

Training:

Two two-hour training sessions with Conflict Center staff on conflict management and anger management.

Time Frame:

Availability during school hours on weekdays is necessary. PCM Trainings (for students) are two hours each. Playground duties are weekdays, during the lunch-hour, one to one and one- half hours per session. "Peace Connections" assistance time will be determined with volunteer.

Site:

Denver metro area elementary school playgrounds.

Supervision:

TCC program staff
