The Annual Youth Peace Leadership Conference is a full day of workshops and activities for youth leaders in Colorado schools to develop and advance their skills. The participants range from 3rd grade through 12th grade, and their sponsoring adults or teachers from various schools all across the state. This has been an extremely successful event in past years and one that develops the peace leaders of our future.

The Conflict Center has partnered with the Colorado School Mediation Project, or the School Mediation Center for the last six years as co-sponsors of this event. In 2004, CSMP/ SMC closed its doors. The Conflict Center is currently reviewing the Youth Peace Leadership event program, exploring potential new partners, new locations for the event, and a new focus that will advance the leadership skills of the future peacemakers.

The 7th Annual Youth Peace Leadership Conference will take place in the Fall of 2005. We need a committee of dedicated volunteers to help coordinate this event. Volunteers are vital to the success of the conference. Please consider being involved in one of the following ways:

  • Meetings are typically 1.5 hours long
  • In the last month of the conference, meet once per week to pull final pieces together
  • Attend & assist with the event on the day of the event
  • Attend debriefing & evaluation meeting after event

Being a YPLC Conference Day Coordinator:

  • Qualifications are:
    • strong organizational skills,
    • patience, and
    • dependable / reliable
  • Event coordination experience is preferred, but not required
  • You will be heavily supported by staff & other volunteers, but you will be the key coordinator on the day of the event
