TEACHING ASSISTANT
for the School Program
Purpose:
To assist with teaching lessons and/or help The Conflict Center (TCC) school
program staff prepare, sort and organize materials needed for workshops, classes,
etc.
Activities:
- Assist in teaching anger and conflict management skills lessons (if the volunteer
chooses this aspect)
- Sort and count handouts and curriculum
- Check out books as needed by staff
- Research and locate alternative curriculum materials
- Locate puppets and other visual materials
Qualifications:
This volunteer must have a willingness to learn conflict management skills
and become familiar with TCC curriculum and library resources. They must have
good organizational skills, patience and be very dependable. If teaching lessons
is chosen, the volunteer must enjoy working with children and youth grades K –
12, though a particular age range preference may be specified by the volunteer.
Training:
Training for each particular lesson or assignment.
Two two-hour conflict/anger management workshops.
Time Frame:
- One to two hours per workshop or class.
- Usually weekdays during school hours.
- Research and preparation time will vary.
Site:
The Conflict Center or various schools in the Denver metro area.
Supervision:
TCC staff
