Some of the many hard working volunteers who give their time to The Conflict Center are its Board of Directors. These people meet on the fourth Monday of the month from September to June to deal with the business of The Center. Working closely with the Executive Director, Ron Ludwig, they set policies and provide support and guidance for the work of The Conflict Center in line with its mission. Board members are elected for three year terms and may be reelected for an additional two terms. Below are brief introduction to the current board (listed in alphabetical order). Ilene Lin Bloom is an attorney with an extensive background in child advocacy cases. She currently serves as both Vice President of the Board and Chair of the Fund Development Committee. She is beginning her second term on the Board. Alfred C. Harrell is a Judge with Denver County Court. Al is in his first term and is currently serving on the Board Development Committee. He is a very active volunteer contributing time to The Dumb Friends League and the Colorado Supreme Court Client Protection Fund. Marianne Hayes is an attorney and CPA who practices in the areas of estate planning, estate administration and charitable planning. She is in her first term on the Board. She served as Secretary last year. In January 2007 she became Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee. She is active in other community and professional organizations. Diego Hunt joined the Board in January 2007. He is an attorney with extensive background in community work. In addition to his legal work, he has been Community Justice Coordinator for the Office of the Denver District Attorney and worked with the Weed & Seed Neighbor to Neighbor program in Denver. In that capacity, he first worked with The Conflict Center. Sheila Karpan is a Social Worker at Annunciation School beginning her second term on the Board. Her long association with TCC, starting with teaching our curriculum soon after it was developed, has made her a valuable asset in reviewing our programs. She is active in peace and justice issues.

Jay McCarthy is an attorney specializing in environmental litigation. He is in his third term on the Board. In his long service to TCC he has held many positions, including President. He currently chairs both the Organizational Development and Governance Committees and serves on the Finance Committee. Sue Mitchell is in her second term on the Board. She currently serves as President, a position she also held last year. A volunteer with TCC since 1999, she has worked with many TCC activities. She now is a volunteer in the Reading for Peace Program and serves on the Volunteer and Fund Development Committees. Benny Samuels is a Program Manager for Denver Health Community Voices who joined the Board in September 2007. She brings an extensive marketing background to the board and serves on the Fund Development Committee. Hanne Schauer joined the board in June
2006 after serving a year as the Junior League of Denver observer. Her
background is teaching high school mathematics. She has trained in our
curriculum and is teaching our Teen Parenting Classes. She serves on the
Volunteer Committee and is Secretary to the board in January. |
