On October 5th, was Intergeneration Day! Intergeneration Day is an international day, celebrated nationally across 36 states in the United States promoting communications between different age groups and combating age-segregation. The theme for this year was “Intergeneration Day Means Business”, emphasizing the benefit of generations working together in a business setting. Encouraging individuals of different age groups to cooperate in business allows for experiences to be combined and knowledge to be shared.

 

Activities were arranged and awards were given out on Intergeneration Day. The Palisades at Broadmoor Park in Colorado Springs was the recipient of the 2008 Intergeneration Day Means Business Award.  Events that took place on this day include

Intergeneration Fun Day in New Zealand and a multi-cultural, multi-generational fair, arranged by the West Intergenerational Learning Center that took place on October 6th in Colorado Springs.

 

Encouraging generations to work together and get past their differences reduces intergenerational conflict that stem from misunderstandings. Intergenerational cooperation contributes to a prospering and friendly community where differences and values are respected.
