The Conflict Center (TCC) has received $15,000 from Rose Community Foundation in order to establish the second year of the Full School Program at Manual High School. This program is a three year program designed to help Manual High School create a sustainable culture of peace and non-violence. To accomplish these goals, the Conflict Center aims to strengthen and expand the use of restorative practices and nonviolent skill building. TCC will build upon the foundations laid in the first year by developing in-school programs that allow students to demonstrate and practice the skills they learned in the previous year. TCC will also perform a full-scale analysis of all systems within the school in order to determine their compatibility with a restorative school model.
Manual High School was closed down in the spring of 2006 by Denver Public Schools (DPS), but reopened its doors to a new freshmen class, along with a new staff, in the 2007/08 school year. The |

Conflict Center stood alongside Manual High School and helped it reopen with a new focus. During the first year of this program, The Conflict Center was able to introduce restorative justice principles, as well as violence prevention skills, to the administrators, teachers, support staff, students and parents. TCC is looking forward to building on these efforts and continuing this work in the current school year.
