Salma Shukri is a new intern at the Conflict Center. She has received her BA in English Literature, along with a minor in Business Administration, from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Currently, she is attaining her MA in International and Intercultural Communications from the University of Denver. Her area of concentration is Conflict Resolution. Salma’s main interest is in resolving conflicts that pertain to cultural differences, but is dedicated to learning how to peacefully settle disputes of any sort. She is currently assisting with the newsletter and other marketing and communications projects in the Conflict Center. Her hobbies include reading and swimming.

(Youth Programs Intern)
Kelsey Hopson is originally from Los Angeles, CA.  She received her Bachelor’s in Aquaculture from the University of California, Davis in 2006.  She is currently working on her Master’s degree at the School of Social Work at the University of Denver.  At The Conflict Center she is helping develop a female specific curriculum for youth and assisting with organizing the 2009  Garden Tour.  After she finishes her Master’s degree she is hoping to get her clinical license and eventually start her own non-profit working with girls and body image.

Terry started at TCC as an intern and is now serving as an Americorp member.  He is in charge of developing the youth curriculum, working on teaching the Social Norming and Bullying Prevention projects, and teaching Emotional Intelligence and Critical Decision Making series as part of TCC’s school program.  Terry is currently working on his Bachelor’s degree in Human Services with emphasis on Marriage and Family at the University of Phoenix.  His goal is to get his License in Professional Counseling and practice as a therapist in the community.  Terry believes in making a difference in the lives of others through positive change.

Rose received her Master of Business Degree from the University of Colorado at Denver.  She has had a progressive career with over 17 years of experience in healthcare and nonprofit management and administration that includes Director of Lutheran Medical Center Hospice Care, Executive Director of the Rocky Mountain Stroke Association, and senior management positions at Spalding Rehabilitation Hospital.  Rose also has nonprofit board experience including board recruitment, governance, fundraising and strategic planning.  She is currently the Board Chair of The Woman’s Wilderness Institute, an organization dedicated to strengthening the courage, confidence and leadership qualities of girls and women. At The Conflict Center Rose is the Volunteer Coordinator.

(School Programs Intern)
Meaghan Burns is originally from St. Louis, MO.  She attended the University of Indiana (IU) for her undergraduate education where she received a BA in Journalism and Political Science.  After IU, Meaghan joined the 2005 Teach for America Corps where she taught 3rd grade in the inner city of Chicago for three years.  Currently, Meaghan is attending the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work to obtain her MSW.  Through this program, she accepted an internship with The Conflict Center where she is primarily working with their School Program to implement Restorative Justice and positive-based learned school-wide.  Upon finishing her degree in spring of 2010, she hopes to work towards her license in Clinical Social Work doing therapy/counseling with high-risk youth.

Jesse Page-Adams grew up in Lawrence, Kansas and moved to New Hampshire in 2002 to attend Dartmouth College where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Women’s and Gender Studies. Jesse is presently studying at the University of Denver to receive a Master’s degree in Social Work.  She hopes to use this degree to do policy and research work in the field once she graduates.  In order to achieve this goal, Jesse is working on the Research and Evaluation team as well as the Grant Writing team at The Conflict Center.
